In December 2007, the IQLA Council decided to intensify the support of local and national conferences. Therefore, the IQLA Council suggested to have congresses and conferences organized "under the auspices of IQLA", which means that the Association identifies itself with the organizers, the contents, the scholars and the participants (who are to a large part IQLA members), and that it takes an active part in them. These congresses have high standards and deal with a genuine and comprehensive topic of quantitative linguistics, or are organized in honor of famous scholars in this field. Requests to organize conferences sub auspiciis IQLA may be directed to any member of the IQLA Council.
